Let their Achievements Be Remembered and Their Beliefs Inspire!
A s stated in the Museum's by-laws, the purpose of the Petroleum Hall of Fame is:...to honor those persons and firms who have made outstanding contributions to the development of the petroleum industry or have served as worthy examples to those in the petroleum industry, and thereby to record such examples of service, strength of character and achievementfor the inspiration and education of present and future generations.
The Hall of Fame received its first member in 1968, several years before the Museum itself actually opened. 1999 witnessed the induction of the 100th member to the Petroleum Hall of Fame.
Each odd-numbered year a maximum of four people or teams are inducted into the Hall of Fame. Those inducted have been elected by the Museum's governing board, after an exhaustive study of their qualifications by a special committee.
Submission of names of persons, living or deceased, for election to the Hall of Fame may be made by any interested party. Candidates not chosen in the year submitted will be automatically reconsidered in future elections.
